I HATE MODS = adam clarkson
I hate Mods.
There are five types of Mods and i hate them all.
1/ Fat "lad" Mods - ie. The worst kind of mod. Normally in the early to mid thirties, settled down with the "missus"
from school (a former school beauty who has since let herself slip), loves Paul Weller, and the V festival. Frequents wanky pubs on Mapperley top and was hard at school. Is now too fat to get into his fred perry but still wears it.
The sort of cunt who'd bring up you pissing yourself on the mats in primary school at school reunions.
Probably sells cars.
2/ Mods in bands - The sort of Mod who claims his band is like "nothing you've ever heard before" before blasting into a perfect Oasis/Paul Weller tribute song with different words. Not as bad as Fat "lad" Mods but is incredibly smug about his god given gift for music and likes smoking "pukka" weed. Calls Paul Weller "The Modfather" and hates every other kind of music apart from his own, other mod bands, northern soul and Paul Weller.
3/ Arty Mods - Like mods in bands but with the smugness ramped up to a million. They are almost always photographers who take photographs of mods in bands. Will usual wear the new clothing line designed by Liam Gallagher because it's "a bit Weller" has a punchable look on his mug like he knows a secret no one else knows.
4/ Acid Mods - The sort of mod who smokes loads of weed, was once a potential fat lad mod but took a different road. Started taking acid in his late teens and now loves acid jazz as a result. Pretty harmless really still likes a listen to northern soul now and then, owns a parka and will quite happily sleep in a skip if he has to. Basically a crusty in Mod clothing. The nicest kind of mod. In previous years listened to Paul Weller in his car before he sold it as a result of losing his job in Wickes for being stoned on the job. Sometimes stays with his mum for a couple of months between rented accomadation. In fact lives with his mum.
5/ Mod Mods - Fucking serious Mods. Basically a military mod. A soldier Mod. Would've done well in the falklands. Listens to Paul Weller, calls him "the modfather" and bloody well means it. Really not much fun at all. Sells drugs and rides a scooter. This mod is very serious about his mod uniform, his hair cut and having the best kind of scooter. Normally a skinney phsyco, you don't see him with girls very often. Hangs around in small groups with other mod mods who also sell drugs. Probably has a strange fetish that no one knows about like wolf bagging.
Captain Dangerous stuff...
I again have been lazy with writing recently but i wanted to wait until everything was in order.
We now have a new label "I'm not from london records" and recording an E.P for release in January which will have a UK tour to support it. The lead track for the e.p will be "Forgive us we're British" and will also feature a new version of "A little bit of home" (last seen on the mega limited edition album "The House that Jack Hayter built")
"I am the wind" "If god exists" and maybe one more. The E.P will be out in physical form and the single from it will be "Forgive us we're British" We're currently getting ideas together for the video which is going to be a wrestling theme used as a metaphor. I'm personally very excited about making this video and getting to work with the new label. I need to thank Chris Webb for all his hard work over the last two years or so we've now mutually parted company and still good mates.
Pastures new for us now though!
So what else has been going down?? There was Y not festival which was brilliant and we had an amazing time. We met and hung out with lots of people, saw some great bands - Los Camp and Mystery Jets were my favourites and we played a pretty storming energetic show. It was great to be back playing a show for the BBC introducing stage again. We also got to camp with Fists and Royal Gala who made the whole festival feel like a big friendly party of familiar faces.
Tomorrow we are headlining Rock the House Festival in Grantham. I’m very excited about this.
The festival takes place in a wood amongst the trees. We're bringing extra musicians too and Manieres are also playing so most of them will almost inevitable end up on stage with us!
So yes...things are really looking up again after a tough period with the band and parting company with Danqua and the management. Good times ahead and i'm writing freely again. I'm currently trying to learn the Rauli Badding song Paradise in Finnish, nailed the piano part already so now just the words to remember. I really want to record a version of this.
I still hate Mods.
